Vascular endothelial cells line the blood vessels and contribute tomany biological processes such as hematosis, coagulation, trafficking oflymphocytes, and the inflammatory response. The endothelial cell is ofprimary importance in the extravasation of leukocytes from thecirculation into sites of tissue inflammation. In the case of mastitis,the magnitude and duration of inflammation can be related to suchparameters as endothelial adhesion molecules expression, cytokinesecretion, as well as changes in vascular permeability [1]. Histologicalstudy demonstrates that mammary microvasculature are a prominent featureof intralobular tissue [2] and the endothelial cells play an importantrole in the study of mastitis and associated mammary glandimmunopathology [3].
HMMEC from ScienCell Research Laboratories are isolated from humanbreast tissue. HMMEC are cryopreserved immediately after purificationand delivered frozen. Each vial contains >5 x 105 cells in 1 mlvolume. HMMEC are characterized by immunofluorescent method withantibodies to vWF/Factor VIII and CD31 (P-CAM) and by uptake ofDiI-Ac-LDL. HMMEC are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma,bacteria, yeast and fungi. HMMEC are guaranteed to further expand for 15population doublings at the conditions provided by ScienCell Research Laboratories.
